Angle the end of a cylinder

Hopefully this is an easy question that does NOT end up with me having to use Direct Modeling  🙂

 

I have a cylinder that I want to cut off at a 45 degree angle, so that I can connect another cylinder to it to make it turn a corner at 90 degrees.  See the picture here:

How best to do that?  I guess I could do a lot of work to set to a construction plane at that angle and try to do some sort of intersection at that plane, but that seems like a lot of work when all I need to do is make the end of that cylinder angled at a 45 degree angle.  Chamfer does not work, nor does draft angle, so I am stuck, and asking the community....thanks!

The easiest way to do this, starting from nothing, is to use the pipe command.  Just draw the sketch with the 90 degree bend, and use Pipe to create the cylinders.

 

Here is a short screencast showing how to do that:

 

 

If that doesn't work (because of that flange in your case), and you already have the two cylinders, then yes, I would use a workplane or a sketch to split the cylinders.  There are lots of ways to do this.  Here is another screencast showing how to do it using a sketch line and Split Body:

Perfect, thanks! The pip command worked perfectly! I am not to the flange part yet, but I suspect that if I really did want that flange, I could use the pipe command in the Sculpt workspace, and then subdivide the pipe later on. Thanks!
