Further coverage of CAM API

When will more functionality be added to the CAM API?

It's been a while since the phased rollout of the CAM API was announced, but so far there hasn't been much more functionality exposed.

When will full coverage of the CAM API be provided? At the very least, the ability to get at toolpath geometries?

I'm curious as well.  It would be helpful to know in planning ahead how my resources should be allocated, whether additional CAM API features are coming in a year or several years or are suspended indefinitely

A decent update is imminent. It's possible it's there already, but the documentation hasn't been updated yet. I haven't tried inspecting it to see if the API is more functional now. The CAM API is now being actively worked on, whereas it hasn't been for quite a long time.

Will the new libs be provided when the documentation is done?

Can we get a copy of the libs before hand?

One more thing...

I've got version 2.0.7830 of the API libs. Is that the latest(ish) version?

@goyals Have you updated the documentation or is it still being worked on? Thanks

I'm interested in this too. I had a look last week but the documentation seemed to be light unless I was looking in the wrong place.

I've had a look at the new docs for the CAM API and I really can't see much difference.

In my original question, I asked specifically about getting the geometry of machine operations. Will this ever be available? We've been waiting for this for some time.

Here is a use case that we really want to implement: the creation of fully compliant AP242 STEP files. Basically the whole gamut of product info from shape to manufacturing. Opening up the the CAM API would allow this.

Here's another use case that could be implemented with machine operation geometry, nesting of planar parts. So many users have been asking for this functionality. Nesting functionality could have been implemented by the community a long time ago.

Can someone from Autodesk answer this question: Will the geometry of machine operations ever be available to the CAM API?
