Licenses not loading

Hi everyone,

We are trying to use environment variables to ensure that our products like 3dsMax23, Maya24, Revit23 and Mudbox24 automatically query the server and grab the available license in our labs.

We used to have to go to 80-90 odd machines and someone would manually type in the license server on each machine. This is not how we want to do things going forwarded. So I used the link below
How to specify license servers using the ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE environment variable (autodesk.com)

However when setting this up as per the instructions and the video I am getting the "Network License not available" message with an error code of 0.0.0

If i manually go to input my server all works fine. I am using the internal IP address of the network server in my env var, the device is contactable.

Any help would be much appreciated. If any further details are required I please let me know.

Hi @h_ahmedDA5CD,

Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Have you seen the article for this specific error? I'd recommend seeing if any of the recommended solutions work and letting me know if we need to explore different avenues.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Hi Leo, yes thanks I looked at the different options in the link as part of our initial testing. We ended up uninstalling all the Autodesk products and re-installed and we are able to now have the machines using the env var to accept the network license.

My question would be we still have to select network license before it actually looks for the license and lets you in. Is there a way we can avoid the launcher that requires you to select the network license over the Autodesk ID and just recognises that a network license is configured?

Thanks

Hi @h_ahmedDA5CD,

I'll tag in @TravisNave, one of our Expert Elites who specialises in licensing and deployments as this is out of my depth. Travis - Is this possible? Thank you so much.

It shouldn't be asking if it is licensed for network seats.  Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing?

HI Travis. Thanks for helping with this.

So we get the below and attached (Maya.png). We can then click "Use Network License" and then it will automatically pickup the env var we have registered.  Before we would then have to input our license server aswell.

We are then presented with the Privacy Settings page.

Ideally we would just want to open the program and the License is recognised and loads to then the privacy page.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

It's interesting that it keeps asking for license type.  Is it possible that your user does not have local admin or power user rights?  I feel like the settings are taking and it could be a user rights issue.

The other thing you can try is setting a system environment variable to point to the network license server, which in theory, should keep it from asking.

You can find the instructions here:

https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-specify-lic...

Also my license reset tool will do it for you if you want to download and try that.  It's in my signature line.

Good Luck!

Hi @LeoWarren-EDU & @TravisNave for the suggestions, apologies I have not had time to respond.

So @TravisNave we went to see what would happen if the program was launched as admin to see if the license automatically registers as a network License. However we have then been loaded with an error message to state that our installed version of Network License Manager is unsupported. Upon checking our LMTools version is 1.18 which is supported, but the flex Daemon is using version 1.16 which is not supported.

Once I have updated LMtools using the link Network license installation | Admins | Autodesk Support, I'll come back to you with an update, thanks again for the advice provided thus far.

Hi @h_ahmedDA5CD,

I wanted to follow up as I haven't heard from you in a few days. How you are getting on with updating LM tools? If everything is working well, I'd be happy to hear from you; otherwise, please don't hesitate to let me know of any issues or questions.
