AutoCAD hangs when internet is down

I have noticed the following issue for several years now, across multiple releases within my office.

A few times a year, multiple CAD users will come to me saying that the ACAD cursor is just spinning.

At the beginning, I was looking at it as a server / network thing, but never found anything that I could put my finger on. Everything else in the office seemed to be working correctly.

Over time, I started to realize that every time the issue happened, the internet was down.

Last night, several people mentioned that ACAD was not responding and sure enough the office internet was down.

I had them leave their machines on for the night with ACAD running and when I got in today, internet was back up and their open CAD sessions were working just fine.

I was working in Advance Steel last night and it did not seem to affect my machine.

One of the users was using ACAD 2020 Mechanical and the other ACAD 2019, which were both not responding.

Has anyone else experienced this and can point me in a direction?
