Dimension text between the extension lines, not outside

Hello, text placement vertical - outside (DIMTAD = 2), horizontal - over ext. line 2 (DIMJUST = 4), depending on the choice of measurement points and its rotation, the dimension text is not placed outside, but between remote lines. I do not understand why?

Hi,

>> first point - 1, second point - 2

Why uploading a screenshot instead of the drawing file?

We need to create now a drawing, with a dimension-style having some settings you mentioned (the other settings are all unknown) and then draw a new dimension ... to a geometry and drawing you already have? Why not uploading this drawing, I guess you would get much faster a response compared to

  • we need first to find what settings you have to (may be)
  • see what you would get (as you have not shown your result for dimensioning the red line)

Also please let us know your version of AutoCAD (command _ABOUT)

Hello @Anonymous,

This has to do with the Dimension Style being used, you may be using the default. Please review the video below (fast forward to 24:09) to create your own custom Dimension Style, using the DIMSTYLE commnad to pull up the Dimension Style Manager.

Make sure to Center the text on your dimension line, to correct the text placement issue you mentioned.

DIMJUST = 4 is 'place text over extension line 2'.  So the first and second picks matter when placing the dimension.  Moving clockwise for pick 1 and then 2 you will get the dim between the two extension lines, it is actually putting the dimtext over the ext line 2 which happens to be between the two ext lines.  Dimension in counterclock direction and you still get the dims  over extension line 2 but not between the two ext lines.

So either make sure you pick in the clockwise direction each time or create another dim style to place the text over extension line 1 and pick in a counter clockwise direction.

Hello! I do not need the text in the center, the horizontal position over ext. line 2 or 1, vertical - outside. The question was that the size is applied differently with the same settings depending on the rotation of the size.
In the answer below write that it depends on the choice of the size clockwise. This is true?

Now you are talking about the size but you didn't mention that once in your original post.  Not clear what you are after now, maybe it is the language barrier.
