Used to be able to snap to a nearby point, did I turn something off?

I used to be able to hover over a nearby point, wait until it popped up "endpoint" or something similar and then move over to place another point that is aligned with this first point, through either polar tracking or ortho. As soon as the hovered point popped up "endpoint" I knew I was locked in. The "endpoint" no longer pops up and I can't do this any longer. Did I turn some setting off by accident or something? Thanks for the help.

Check the object you are snapping to. Is it an old-fashioned "2D Polyline"? (check the Properties).

If so, use the CONVERTPOLY command and convert it to a "new" style polyline

I used to be able to do it with anything. A line, a polyline, a 3D wall from ACAD Architecture, didn't matter. It no longer works with anything.

Try experimenting with the PICKFIRST command

Did you [accidentally, perhaps] turn off Osnap Tracking and/or running Object Snap?  The F11 and F3 keys toggle those, or you can pick on their icons in the status bar -- make sure both these icons are turned on/enabled:

It was F11, thank you very much!
