overlap faces of solids

When drawing a building in 3d sometimes faces of two different solids, i.e. slabs and facades overlape and you see the thickness of the slab coming into the exterior face of the solid facade. This is very annoying because you need to edit your drawing after export to pdf in illustrator. Is there a way, similar to hide those overlaped lines.

I don't of any Draworder equivalent command for 3D objects.

But in my opinion, you could either move or extrude/presspull the second element away from first object by a fraction of a millimeter or you can Union the objects, if those are viable options for the output that you are looking for.

Hey @Darwin33

My take on this would be tha;

  1. You recess the periphery of the slab by about 20mm or even 50mm, so that it doesn't exactly flush with the wall on the exterior face.
  2. You would then create a band round the slab having a 20mm or 50mm by the height of the slab and just SWEEP the shape to create the band round the periphery of the slab.
  3. Finally you UNION the wall and the band.

Hope this gives an idea or helps

Two solid objects cannot occupy the same space. This is what you are witnessing and while the other suggestions accomplish what you are after they are hit or miss as to whether or not they will correct the problem. You might want to examine the Interfere command to create a solid you can subtract from one or the other solid. Or you can use slice to trim one object to the other. Depending of the geometry of the solids it can take multiple operations to get what you want. Simple flat walls/slabs should be relatively easy.
