Merging layers from a block to layers in a template automatically.

We do a lot of inserting of blocks we get from outside sources.  I am wondering if there is a way for the layers in blocks to be automatically converted to layers in my template.  For example: block layer RED change to template layer TOP and so on. We can get it set up so we are always changing the same named block layers to the same layer in the template. Right now I am exploding, then changing to by layer and finally using merge on the blocks to get this done.  I just want to insert the blocks and all that is taken care of without all those clicks.

Thanks

Would the layer translator help? It can map RED to TOP, and so on.

I've tried that, but I as far as I know, you have to go into that every time.  It didn't save any time over what I'm doing now.

The Customizations forums are over here, start by asking in the LISP forum if you re not familiar with the other programming languages https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-customization/ct-p/AutoCADTopic1

You can save the layer translator settings so that you don't have to remap them every time.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.
