No, I did not mean you should define a coordinate system in AutoCAD (as AutoCAD does not have such an option, only AutoCAD Map 3D and Civil 3D are AutoCAD based products that know coordinate systems).

The workflow could be to use the coordinates in AutoCAD which are corresponding to a specific geographic coordinate system. When you then import this dwg-file into ArcGIS you need to inform ArcGIS which coordinate system and units you were thinking about when drawing objects in AutoCAD.

Well, I have not seen yet that world files can be used with DWG-files, but may be it's just me not knowing that this could work.
