3D Polyline with point number
I see in AutoCAD civil somebody can draw 3D polylines with point numbers (PN). Is there a way that I can use it in regular AutoCAD without installing AutoCAD CIVIL?

Maggie,
You can use a Script or just paste coordinates into the command line. Read >>>Here<<<.

There are third party add-ons for plain AutoCAD that can place/import points and allow you to specify point numbers during draw operations such as the 3dPoly command. For example DotSoft's MapWorks will do that (and a whole lot more).
Command: 3DPOLY Specify start point of polyline: 'PN3 DS> Point Number(s): 101 Specify endpoint of line or [Undo]: 'PN3 DS> Point Number(s): 102-105

Thank you. I'll give it a try when I get back to office on Monday. This sounds like what I'm looking for.

... what I wanted is to give each point a numbered tag.
The add-on will also easily add points on objects. Simply select multiple linear objects and it will put points on the vertices. It even checks for and avoids placing duplicates if multiple objects share a vertex.
