Rendered shadow details not in properties

I am using AutoCAD 2019 and working through rendering. I cannot get the "Rendered shadow details" in the light properties. I have seen some tutorials and there are forums that post a fix: _RENDEREINGINE and set the value to 0. This is not a command for me, at least not is 2019. Is there an option to add "rendered shadow details" to the light properties in 2019?

Thanks for your help

Hi @Anonymous,

This command is not present in AutoCAD 2017 and newer product. It was available in 2016 version when the render engine was being transitioned to Rapid RT from Mental Ray.

Are there specific lighting issues you are facing that are preventing you from achieving shadows the way you want?  Can you share a file so I can take a look?

HI John,
Thanks for getting back with me. The problem I’m having is not so much with shadows but I’d like to make a 3D solid look as if it’s a light. I saw a tutorial that modeled a florescent light and he made it glow using the rendered shadow details along with a luminescent material mapped to the solid. Is there another way to make a 3D solid ‘glow/shine’ in the newer version of AutoCAD? When I create a light it does not show an actual light (or glowing bulb).
Thanks
Austin

Hi @Anonymous,

I have a better idea now of what you are trying to do.  I usually place a block to represent the light fixture. Then I place a light where I have my block.  This gives me illumination and a light fixture.  To further enhance the light fixture, I can assign a material to it that is set to have self-illumination.  This works pretty well in my renders.
