Hi @Anonymous,

Can you place the DXF in a cloud location which you can share with me (john.vellek@auotdesk.com)? My email likely will reject a file of that size.

If you want to share in public (and also for mailing), ZIP the file before.

Public, just attach them to your next answer or post a link to .. for example your A360

What you can try is to open with another software, but if you get es result it is possible the data is not 100% correct.

Hi @Anonymous,

I am taking a look at the DXF currently. It is so large that I am having some issues in getting it open in Notepad.

When I try to  open it in AutoCAD  it throws a sortents error and then indicates that the DXF is incomplete  so it is highly likely that the file did not retain all of the data and might also be missing an EOF (end of File).

I will let you know if I can open it in my editor to see what the code looks like. In the mean time, is it possible to try to obtain a new copy of this data in a new DXF?

Hi @Anonymous,

I am still working on getting this file to open but when I do a search for an End of File it is not found so this definitely did not finish writing the data.

Please tell me which version of AutoCAD and OS you are using as it looks like this DXF is in 2012 format which is rather old.

Hi @Anonymous,

There is no need to resend.  Since the file is so big it is just taking some time to examine.

Hi @Anonymous,

I have been struggling to edit out the last portion of this file which was not completed in the write  of the file.  There is no end of section or end of file so this DXF is indeed incomplete and invalid.  Do you have the original dwg file from which it was created? This file is quite enormous and it overwhelms my Notepad before I can make much progress in trying to recover the data.

HI @Anonymous,

I am currently traveling and can't devote more time to this at present. If you want to try to salvage what you can, you can open the DXF in Notepad and try to  remove the last "entity" from the file and then add an end of file that looks like this:

0
ENDSEC
0
EOF

If you are willing to share the file publicly, I can try to upload it here for you if it does not exceed file size restrictions.
