I'm reminded of an old trick here for opening the attribute editor for a single block that may be invisible.   Using ATTEDIT you can type an exclamation marl or at @ symbol to edit an invisible block with attributes.  Not sure how the selection is determined other than as last block placed.

 

To edit your block you may need to use the Manage Attributes icon on the insert ribbon, or BATTMAN command.  Within that GUI you can select any attributed block in the drawing.  You can then select the attribute you need to modify and click the Edit button.  If you place a value in the Default field that can serve as your required data or you may later double-click that default value to edit it.

 

If this is part of a template then I would suggest getting default values in your attributes so you can edit them from now on.

One last suggestion would be to place the block again and add a value when prompted so that you can edit later as necessary.
