Open Enhanced Attribute Editor
Hello,
I have numerous attributes in my AutoCAD sheet that are not necessarily always filled in. They get filled in when we move through our ECR process. Now we have come across this a few times now, where we need to edit one of the attributes when they are not filled in. Because of this, I cannot double click the attribute to open the enhanced attribute editor. I know there is another way but I am unable to find it. Can someone tell me how to open the enhance attribute editor so I can fill in the attribute?
Thank you,
Kassandra

You don't have to click on the text that is missing. You can double click on any part of the block, other text atts or lines.
Or are you saying that the block only contains attributes and that none of them are filled in, making the block invisible?

Then try quick select, QSELECT. First select the block by filtering for the block name, then type EATTEDIT.

I'm reminded of an old trick here for opening the attribute editor for a single block that may be invisible. Using ATTEDIT you can type an exclamation marl or at @ symbol to edit an invisible block with attributes. Not sure how the selection is determined other than as last block placed.
To edit your block you may need to use the Manage Attributes icon on the insert ribbon, or BATTMAN command. Within that GUI you can select any attributed block in the drawing. You can then select the attribute you need to modify and click the Edit button. If you place a value in the Default field that can serve as your required data or you may later double-click that default value to edit it.
If this is part of a template then I would suggest getting default values in your attributes so you can edit them from now on.
One last suggestion would be to place the block again and add a value when prompted so that you can edit later as necessary.
Hope some of this helps,
Blaine

Blaine,
Thanks for the reply. I have opened the "block attribute manager" feature but it does not let me simply fill in the attribute. The "enhanced attribute editor" lets me fill in the "value" field and that is what shows up on the drawing. The default field is filled in in the block attribute manager but that is not what shows up. I need a way to fill out that value field.
Thanks,
Kassandra

If that's what you want to do, you have to select it first using QSELECT. The other suggestions are asking you to modify your block in order to prevent this situation where the block can't be selected by clicking on it.

Insert tab=>AutoCAD Attributes panel=>Expand the dropdown from Edit Attribute icon. Your cursor turns into a square, then click the block you want to edit.
This will allow you to open Enhanced Attribute Editor.
