Publish multiple layouts/drawings to single pdf

Hello All,

I am having problem with Output - publish to pdf. I attempt to publish (batch) a collection of drawings or layouts, in the publish dialog box, i select the "PDF" option in the "Publish to" drop-down list, i instantly get this error message:

"The plotter configuration cannot be used for one of these reason: the preset cannot be found, the driver cannot be found, or the driver has a problem."

Also, "Publish Options" is greyed out.  We have this problem when we upgrade to AutoCAD 2017.

Please share if you have a solution. Thanks in advance!

Dennis

Hi,

>> We have this problem when we upgrade to AutoCAD 2017.

while upgrading your AutoCAD 2017 , did you transfer any settings from previous CAD version ? if the answer is yes .. then i suggest to reset AutoCAD to default settings . >> Click <<

Hi @Anonymous,

I suggest that you use the Plotter Named in Page Setup instead of PDF. This allows you to use the existing page setup that has been applied to a layout or to import one. This should give you much more control over how the drawings get plotted to PDF.

Thank you John!

But if using Plotter named in page setup, the pdf will be coming out separately. I would like to publish these drawings to a SINGLE pdf, instead of multiple pdf for multiple drawings.

Also, Publish Options is not available in Plotter named in page setup. It only available to choose "Single sheet file" if PFD is selected.

Hi @Anonymous,

Actually, using the method I suggested can still result in a single multi-page PDF.

Hi John,

For me, the drawings came out individual pdf file per drawing, not a single pdf with multiple pages. Can you do screen shots of what you did in order to get a single multi-pages pdf?

 Hi @Anonymous,

Try setting PUBLISHCOLLATE=1 to see if that helps.

Hi,

you may need to check PUBLISHCOLLATE system variable , and it's recommended to restart your AutoCAD .

Command: PUBLISHCOLLATE
Enter new value for PUBLISHCOLLATE <1>:

Hi, I changed  PUBLISHCOLLATE=1 and restart AutoCAD. They still came out individual pdf. ???

the error message is quite specific: you have the wrong version pdf drivers installed. While workarounds are nice, it'snot the cure.

RESET AutoCAD to remove old drivers you have as a result of using the Migration function from an older AutoCAD variant.

Or Repair/Reinstall your AutoCAD version.

Either way backup your customizations first just in case you've not been diligent about storing them to easily recover manually.

Thank you!

I tried everything you tauch, but for some reasons, the pdf are still coming out individually! And BTW, with version 2017, publish to pdf is different with previous version.

Last thing i will try today is to repair/reinstall my AutoCAD.

Is there anything else i have missing?

Hi @Anonymous,

It sounds as if your DWG to PDF  is damaged.  I have attached mine from AutoCAD 2017.  It should be placed in a location similar to this one:

C:\Users\vellekj\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2017\R21.0\enu\Plotters
