Coworker sends file with pick points on his end but no pick points on my end

A coworker sends me files to use on my end and his have pick points for objects to be moved and resized but when I try to use those pick points they are no longer on the drawing so therefore I can not resize nor move objects using them. Why does this happen?

HI @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Please describe what you mean by pick points. Do you mean nodes (try setting PDMODE to 34) or perhaps Grips (try setting GRIPS =1)?  Or, perhaps you mean OSNAP (use F3 to toggle on or off).

Please give me a bit more description on what you are missing.

So with the pick points I'm talking the grips on the corners or even the points on the line that are not showing when I have the object selected. If there is a number for autocad support would it be possible to get that from someone?

Autocad support is an extra fee on your subscription or maintenance package. You'll need to ask your company if they have that.

Hi @Anonymous,

Did you try using the GRIPS variable that I suggested?  Tat should turn on the Grips for you. You might also check the PICKFIRST variable too to see if it is turned on (1).

I tried changing the settings like you asked and nothing is working still. I sent the file I was working on back to my coworker who sent me the originals and they said everything was working fine for them when they tried resizing objects or blocks.

Hi @Anonymous,

Can you prepare a quick Screencast to show me this behavior so I am certain we are talking about the same issue?

You can find a download of Screencast here if you don't already have it installed.

Hi @j.palmeL29YX,

In addition to the Screencast, please try Grips=2, GRIPSMULTIFUNCTIONAL=3

Then, also please check in Options>Selection, the Grip settings to match these in the image.

Capture.PNGPlease also check to see if your OSNAP includes the Insertion point option.

Here is another screencast that I did after changing the settings how you wanted.

I'd interprete your screencast: all the picked objects without grips are block references. Did you check the GRIPBLOCK (it must be 1)? It would not be necessary to ask this question,  if we could see in the screencast the property window.   (as I asked above)

Where could I find the property window? I'm still newer to autocad and don't really know how to find all these things yet.

After second screencast:

Ahh, we are talking about AEC objects. That's another story ...

I'm surrender.

Maybe your coworker uses a verticalproduct of AutoCAD (Architecture or similar) and you only have the pure (Vanilla) AutoCAD. Then an object enabler could help (I'm not sure, it is only an idea).
