Connect to database questions
I am in the process of creating a qualified parts list which will be stored inside a database.
I have watched the db connection you tube video "beyond basics" and I see that OLE connections are pretty easy to use. That scenario is fine if the database will be used by a small group but my goal is to post the db on a sever for a more networked solution.
I was thinking of using firebird which can be a stand alone "embedded db" or the same db can be created as stand alone and migrated to a server.
Has anyone connected autocad to non Microsoft product with success? If so can you please provide some insight?
Thanks in advance
Tim C.

Hi @timothy_crouse,
I have never tried to connect to a non-MS database but i suspect that as long as you can make the ODBC connection you aren't likely to have issues.
I would suggest that you take the plunge and mock this up as it shouldn't take too long. I would love to hear if it works successfully for you.

Hi @timothy_crouse,
Have you had a chance to test this yet? Are there additional resources to which I can direct you?
