I joined the parts, properties say it's planar and closed but still creates surface.
I exploded the join since i want to keep the straight lines as straight as possible, and if i join to the curve it'l be a spline

Try making a REGION inside there. That will Extrude into a 3D Solid.

[EXTRUDE vs. PRESSPULL depends on exactly what kind of result you're after. EXTRUDE has the advantages over PRESSPULL that you can Extrude along a Path, or with Taper, if either of those is needed. PRESSPULL has the advantage that you can do it on a shape bounded by more than one object as in your example, without a middle-man Region as in my suggestion.]
