ReCap Model is not in correct dimension when importing to AutoCAD

Dear Anil,

I am trying to take a model like mentioned above,

in recap photo and recap, the model is in the correct dimensions.

However while inserting it to autocad it is not in the correct dimentions.

the scale is correct and the drawing units are correct (the recap is in meters and the autocad is mm so scale 1000 should work)

317 meters become 340 meters ...

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

I had posted a reply to you earlier today but for some reason it is not here in the thread.

If you can share your data it would be helpful for me to determine what might be going on in your file.  I want to check DWGUNITS and UNITS. If the Recap model is too large to put into a ZIP and attach to a post, perhaps you can share it with me via A360 or another Cloud source.

Dear Jhon,

as I wrote in the recap forum:

I have created a model in recap photo, the model in in the correct dimensions.

I have imported that model to recap, It was still in the correct dimensions, while importing it to autocad the dimensions were not correct (and I am not talking about diffrence from meters to milimeters if is compleatly differ.

the model is pretty big so I have sent you a private massage with a link to download it.

there are three files:

  1. recap photo export file.
  2. recap export file.
  3. autocad DWG file.

regards

Hi @Anonymous,

I worked with your data for a bit and can't duplicate what you are seeing.

Here are the steps I went through.

  • Opened the RCM file in ReCap Photo.
  • Exported as PTS file.
  • Opened Recap and started a new project
  • Imported my PTS file
  • I then save it as a RCP file.
  • I compared measuring the metal roof on the right side in both applications and they match.  The distance is in Meters.
  • Next I started a new AutoCAD dwg file and based it on the out-of-the-box metric template.
  • I use -dwgunits to set the file to use Meters for units.
  • Next I attach the point cloud in my drawing and measure the roof and again it matches.

I have done this three times with the same results.  Can you tell me what is different in your process?

Hi @Anonymous,

I sent you an invite to my files (stored on A360).

Please see if these are behaving differently than the ones you created.

Dear John,

Thank you for your quick response.

I am not well familiar with autocad 3D (I usually work with 2D) I might had a problem with measuring, when I have inserted as an X-ref the accurate measurement that was done, it seems like it fits.

I will check it properly.

thanks a lot, if there will be any problem I will come back to you.
