Open a file from the tool bar

I have a problem with AutoCAD 2011. When I go to File-Open it goes to a menu box on screen asking for an address. Will not go to my files. Any solutions?

Do you mean that "menu box" is the command line prompt?

If so, cancel this command by pressing "Esc" key.

Then type "filedia", press "Enter" key.

Enter "1" then press "Enter" key.

You should be fine.
