PLINES CHANGING TO METAFILE

I am having a issue with PLINES when changing to metafiles.  I don't understand it and haven't figure out how to fix it.  Here is a attached copy of what it looks like when I change it to a metafile.  The first file is how it looks when changed to metafile the 2nd file is how it should look.

I'm also working on 2017 so you all know.

Thank you,

metafile? Do you mean solid fill vs no solid fill?
The no-fill was created from MSWord to an Adobe printer driver, the filled one was plotted from AutoCAD using the built-in PDF driver..

We can't help you with MSWord or 3rd party printing settings issues here.

yes a metafile.  if I do export of the drawing in model space nothing comes up when I open in MS paint.  now if i'm in paper space and go into the view port and do the export around the drawing that is how it comes up.

Ah, exporting to WMF. ok.

What is your VisualStyle settings in modelspace? Is your UCS rotated?
Can you PLOT from modelspace and still get the line fills?

I honestly don't know I have never used that.  I even went as far as deleting the PLine and drawing rectangles and then using the solid command and filling it that way.  Still the samething.  Now I'm going to try to hatch it.  ugh.  I have used the solid command with no issues until now.

update.  I can hatch it with no issues, so i'm going to hatch until the issue is taken care of.  hopefully someone can  help me with this so it doesn't happen anymore.

Hi @john.p.addy,

I just tried creating a polyline with width in my AutoCAD 2017. When I export to WMF, the width is apparent.

IS your AutoCAD fully up to date from the Autodesk Desktop App?

Can you share your file with me so i can see if the problem presents on my side too?

Hi @john.p.addy,

I am sorry but I made an assumption that you were using AutoCAD 2017 or newer. These install with a utility called the Autodesk Desktop App. It can be used to locate updates and hotfixes for you Autodesk products and give you a download and install.

If you are on older products I find that finding updates from your account page works well. Please verify that your AutoCAD is up to date as that might resolve your problem.

hi @john.p.addy,

If you look at the NAVCUBE in the viewport you will see it is not set at a plan view. Type Plan and then world. you will need to rezoom to that model area but ti should work fine after that. You will see in these images that I drew a fat pline and it does not display initially until I do this step. Then, it exports properly.

HI @john.p.addy,

To tell the truth, I am not sure why it is designed to work in this manner.  I think it is because the polyline is essentially a single plane object and does not contain the true 3D traits such as a surface or solid.
