PDF Plot connected with Layer states - hot to batch it ?

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if there is a way to optimize my time in case of multi layer-state plotting.
I am currently working on the model consisting 8 different plot styles, and when it comes to PDF plotting is time consuming since i need to choose every style by hand, go to page, plot, go back to model, change the style etc.
Is there any way to improve that ? Like Making connection between "page" and "layer style" so I could batch it up and plot everything ?
Also is there a way to set - auto update for all dates in my tables/drawings ?
I will be really thankful for any kind of guidance,
Sincerely,
Norbert

Hi,

>> model consisting 8 different plot styles

What is a "plot style"?

If it's meant you have layer states ... then create 8 layouts, each having a viewport and set the viewports layer-override-settings to the color/linetype/lineweight/transsparency/viewport-frozen to what your layer state defines.

a)
It's very strange to print a plan with several different layerstates
can you tell us more about it?

Usually you have your own drawing number if the content is different.

Otherwise the way Alfred describes him would be the actual procedure, independent of Publish (thus also for single print over PLOT).

b)
dates table / drawings - You know the FIELD function and use it already, or not?
If so, what kind of problems do you have?
FIELD Type plotdate and fieldeval set did you?

a) Only with a specially agreed way would this work (additional program),
but only with the full version.

Nothing out of the box.

Specially tuned, I mean that all the necessary information must be present.
In the simplest case:
There are always 8 layerstates and the names are known.

Are you all a "put everything in one DWG file and run LayerStates for each page" kind of firm? AutoCAD isn't designed to automate plotting with those personal choices, so Alfred's tip is one way to work with the tools already in the program to speed publishing/plotting up.

For dates: did you remember to use a FIELD? designed for automation if you chose the correct option. If not, you can always use the harder way with FIND command to replace one with another.

Hey,

umm yeah, by "plot styles" I meant Layer States.
Well do Have 8 Layouts - but im not sure if the color/lineweight override will be good because in the model im using similar colors for different things (to keep it readable).

Needless to say - im usually working in Inventor so , well, Im not used to Autocad type of plotting.
Ill check if i can create separate viewports with frozen layers for each layout.

Hello ,

well I am printing 8 different sheets (electrical, water etc. ) and for each i need to choose (by hand) the layer state). So One Sheet - One State ^^

As for the table - honestly - im not sure what i have there , I did not create the table - it was given to me. It is using MTEXT / Date now, and i can use the UpdateField command (still - by hand).

Hmm ill try to solve that in some free time (who have it duh ? )

Thank You for guidance :cara_con_una_leve_sonrisa:

Sadly to say - yes, we are. Mostly because we need to present/change different type of things and still keep the track of the rest.
There was idea to create a different DWG for each type of 'media' on the drawing - but changing anything after that would be painful.
Main problem is - that im normally not working in Autocad.
