Snapping to unseen objects with Object Snap turned off

I am running Architecture 2017 and am having an issue in certain drawings where the crosshairs will snap to a random spot as if magnetized to it.

The cursor jumps to random places and it is almost impossible to paste an object where you want it to be and the entire process is slowed down as the cursor progressively snaps from one random place to the next in slow motion.

My object snaps are all turned off and I believe I turned one of the "magnet" settings off as well yet this problem persists.

Thoughts ?

go into Options / Drafting tab check your Aperture size and Autosnap Marker size

if you reduce these sizes it may fix some of the issues

are there any 3d objects, elements in the file?

also confirm your Object Snap Options what to ignore and Z axis settings.

Do you "freeze" or just "turn off" layers you do not wish to see?

Grid snap on? or do you have your precision set lower than you are trying to snap too?

Snap is off.

Units are in mm which is what we want.

This construct has a view file overlayed so there are 995 layers. A few are turned off and a few others are frozen but most layers are on.

OK, did all of that that with no noticeable improvement.

are there any 3d components in any of the xref files?

anything that might be off axis in any files?

On this page in the upper right is a search function.  Search on CROSSHAIR JUMPING and go through those posts.
