Autocad 2017 and 2018 crashes when line, pline, rectangle crosses into viewport

I am using 2017 and 2018 Autocad and I am unable to even draw a rectagle over my viepwort and the system just crashes. Tried drawing the border around the viewport with pline command and when the curser moved into the viepwort it crashed.

Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi,

please try:

  • install the latest update(s) for your AutoCAD (2017 should be "Update 1.2" / 2018 should be "Update 1.1" currently)
  • disable hardware acceleration (command _GRAPHICSCONFIG)
  • use a new drawing based on an original AutoCAD template

If nothing helps please create a screencast (>>>free Autodesk Screencast<<<) and show us your steps so we can try to recreate them using the same steps.

HI @Anonymous,

I feel that @Alfred.NESWADBA and @imadHabash have given you some great starting points.

  • Verify that your product is fully updated
  • Disable hardware acceleration
  • Use a clean (original) template
  • Verify that the drawing is not the problem by running AUDIT or RECOVER

If these steps do not resolve the crashes please post back.  When your AutoCAD crashes, do you have any kind of error message or do you have the opportunity to submit a CER Report? If you do have a report please capture the case number so I can look up the error for you.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

Hi,

There was no error file, AutoCAD stopped responding and closed.
