Autcad 2016 - True Color Dimension Text?
Hi.
Is it possible to change the Dimension Text Color to a True Color?
I use the Monochrome as the plotstyle, and want to give the Text Color a "true color", so it will come out on the drawing not as Black.
(I still want the dimension lines to be a Index Color given by the layer).
On properties when i choose "Text Color" it doesn't give me the option of choosing True Color.

Hi, You should look at the dimension style settings in your drawings or templates.
Go to the Annotate ribbon, click the bottom right arrow on the Dimensions panel. This opens the dimension style manager.
Go to Modify for the dimension style you wish to alter.
Now you have the style settings dialog box.
Go to the Text tab and choose the Text Color drop-down arrow.
Choose Other and you will see the ability to set a true color.
BTW... You will only get index colors from the Properties Manager.
Hope this helps.

Hi.
I can choose a True color in that menu, but when I draw a dimension it gets changed to a Index Color, as shown in the properties tab.
I've attached as screenshot showing this.

Elaborating on @beyoungjr's post above, the actual True Color you set the text to in the dimension style hasn't changed--it should still be the true color that you assigned (you can check this by double-clicking the text of the dimension and see what color is shown in the text editor), and it should still print with the true color when using the monochrome ctb (you can check that in the print preview). It's just a quirk/flaw/bug in the properties palette that it "rounds" to the nearest index color when showing the properties for the dimension.

If I double click on the text, it also shows "Color 143", not 57,127,239.
If I double click on the text and manually change the color to True Color it still changes back to a "Index Color".
In both cases it shows as black in paper space.
The only way I've gotten it to show something different is by using "ByLayer" and have "True Color" for the layer.
(But then you have to manually override all the dimensions general color for all dimensions):

Endre,
I too had the issue; I wanted to show particular dimensions in RED (ish).
I tried the other suggested solutions, but none worked for me.
I used your last entry as my solution.
However, I created a new layer, set to true color 255,26,0.
I then moved just those dimensions to that layer.
Strange that mtext items did not have the same problem (color reverting to index only).
Cheers,
Frank
