It's at least a internet browser, so Autodesk products can communicate with internet independent of any local installed browsers and their settings.

And yes, you need it for updates, for bingmaps-connection, for A360, and a lot of stuff, I would not try to disable it as you might then have other conflicts with licensing and so on.

 

But it is unusual that it runs all the time with full power of one kernel.

So I would try to disconnect your workstation from network (just for test, not as a solution!) and see if it's again running hot.

Another trial: disable the Autodesk Desktop Analytics setting.

Also look left of the button shown in my previous screenshot ... does the field show a login name or just "Sign in"?
