AutoCAD 2017 - Fatal Error

Hi all,

In the last month my version of AutoCAD 2017 has been bringing up a fatal error whenever I go to start it up. The error details are "FATAL ERROR: Unhandled c0000409h Exception at 6351bcaah". The error occurs 4 out of 5 times when I try to start the program, otherwise if I successfully get AutoCAD to launch the error will happen after 15 to 20 minutes.

My company's IT provider don't have any experience with AutoCAD software, so the best thing they could do was trying to reinstall the software, which didn't fix anything.

Does anybody have any solutions to this error?

If its any help, I'm running Windows 7 SP1 64-bit, and my copy of AutoCAD 2017 is 64-bit too.

Cheers.

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to Autodesk Community!

Fatal error have a variety of causes. They often indicate a corrupt drawing, program corruption, browser was not properly configured, or a problem with the system configuration.

Please take a look into this article below from our  Autodesk Knowledge Network:

Hello

Welcome to the Autodesk / AutoCAD Forums !

1) Try to open your faulty DWGs in RECOVER Mode, then PURGE then RE-Save it ...

2) Have you the SP1 on your ACAD 2017 ?

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autocad-2017-service...

3) Have you the Update 1.2 on your ACAD 2017 ?

You can get it from your "Destop Autodesk Application" or from your Autodesk Account !

4) Have you tried to copy/paste your ACAD 201X shorcut and to modify the copy with option /NOHARDWARE ?

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Starti...

Then launch your ACAD 201x with this special shortcut ...

Regards, Patrice
