Since the file you provided has errors wehn going into AutoCAD 2018, I experimented with saving it out (or Exported) to different formats. Many of these went into Inventor without any problems. Perhaps this could be an intermediate method to get them into 2018.
I went the brute-force method by opening the file in AutoCAD 2017. I used the Extract Edges tool on the solid.
I could then copy and paste the edges into 2018 without any errors.
I then joined the edges of one side and used Seep to create a new solid that was clean and watertight. I know this sounds like a lot of work but if the models have errors that are not being detected in 2017 or earlier, they are likely to creep into major errors later.
