AutoCAD is direct input e.g. if you want a line 100 units long, after picking the start point of the line you can specify "@100<45" (100 units, at an angle of 45 degrees) as the end point. You can also select entities and change properties in the Properties palette e.g. line objects have a start and end point you can change.
Keep an eye on the command line, that's how AutoCAD talks back to you - requesting point locations, length, and other input.
