F hotkey

I have just installed ACAD Architecture 2018 and am having trouble using my standard hotkey of "F". When I hit "F" [enter] it always goes to FASTSEL instead and it's driving me nuts. How can I stop it from overriding the hotkey?

Hi,

>> When I hit "F" [enter] it always goes to FASTSEL

Have you done any customization or is there any app/plugin/tool installed on top of your AutoCAD?

>> it always goes to FASTSEL instead

....instead to what?

Shortcuts can be defined in PGP files, in menus, in applications, every info which of them might have been changed could help us to point you into this details.

In case you don't have done any costumization you might try to reset your AutoCAD profile to default as described >>>here<<<.

It seems to be some kind of autocomplete that it thinks that's what I want
to type. I don't understand why it fills out FASTSEL when I enter F
[enter]. F is the hotkey. It's not like I'm typing F..........[enter]. I
could see it wanting to help fill in then if I'm thinking of what to type
next, but I'm typing F and [enter] immediately after. It's just frustrating
that it has never done this before and I am programed to use the hotkeys.
Slowing down to find a button is a waste of time and it screws up my
drawing rhythm.

Hi,

E.g. if you define in ACAD.PGP the F key to start _FASTSEL, then it's a definition that someone did on your system or an application might have defined.

If you think it's an autocomplete setting (which might be because autocomplete sees this command as most used and so orders it on the top), just disable autocomplete and see what is then called by <F><ENTER>.

If again _FASTSEL is selected then look to your ACAD.PGP file and see what is defined for <F>

I looked at that list and it says that F is Fillet

I changed the autocomplete delay to 1000 and it still auto populates it as FASTSEL.

I try to remember and physically select fillet so that it remembers that that is what I prefer to do, but it doesn't seem to help.

By the way, thanks for the advice.

Hi,

What happens when you disable autocomplete?

Yes, that does fix it, but I have two other computers running the same
program and I didn't have to turn it off on either of those. I would prefer
to have it on, just in case I need the help. But so far, that seems to be
the only fix.

Hi,

If all 3 workstations are running with the same AutoCAD version (and same apps if there are any installed) you might try to transfer settings.

Look to that article which describes the export and import of settings >>>click<<<
