There could be a few things that cause bloated file sizes.

 

First I would check for phantom linetypes and text styles.

Just enter LTYPE at the command line and see if you have a bunch of linetypes that should not be there.

 

You can also run the OVERKILL command to get rid of lines that are on top of each other.

 

Use WBLOCK as a way to purge the file.
