3D orbit and other 3D manipulating methods-Solid disappears at the beginning

I press the middle mouse button+Shift and the model rotates, O.k. but immediately as i start rotating the solid disappears and i zoom to extents to find it.

It happens also when i start the 3D orbit command.

try to change visual style.

Hi,

have you tried to select the object (or objects) before you start orbiting, by default AutoCAD will then hold the center of that objects as fixed center of orbiting.

When first i select a solid and then orbit it behaves the same as when not selecting-it moves much out of the view.

How can i control how much it moves as a function of the mouse?

How can i make that the orbit center, as you say, will be in the solid i selected? which variable stores it?

Changing the visual style doesn't change anything.

Hi,

>> How can i make that the orbit center, as you say, will be in the solid

Look to the sysvar ORBITAUTOTARGET (>>>details<<<).

If that does not help and this issue only appears in that one drawing, then please upload the drawing so we can look into the details about that 3D Solid.

Here is what happens when i start the 3D Orbit, the model jumps.

There is no sys var ORBITAUTOTARGET but there is Enable Auto Target on the shortcut menu during the 3D Orbit command. i used it but it doesn't help.

Alao, the model gets stuck in some positions, i can't rotate any more

3DORBITCTR doesn't help. but it's strange, the first time i used it it was O.K., the model rotated without jumping to some position at the beginning.

But look also what happens when i try to rotate more-i can't.

I recorded a screencast, it said it's been uploaded but it's not in the list.

As soon as it wil be i will attach

Hi,

just to remind... please if your model far a way from 0,0,0 please move it near to 0,0,0 and see how it's work.

Now you can see how it gets stuck.

The WCS is near the model

It doesn't stuck, i can rotate all the time but it gets locked in 2 positions: horizontal in both directions: the TOP and BOTTOM views, and even though i drag the mouse the model doesn't continue. i can only rotate between those 2 views.

I attached a simplified file.

In constrained orbit it doesn't work as in your screencast, but in free orbit yes

Press Shift+W, press and hold Orbit.

SteeringWheels

With the SteeringWheel it works fine, it doesn't jump. and it also works with Freeorbit, but with Constrained orbit it jumps as i press the mouse button.

And, also, the rotation of the model is constrained between 2 states, as i said.

This also happens to me but only when i have external references set to a layer that is frozen.

It takes for ever for the 3DO to execute for the first time, i press escape, it resumes with no graphics, when i quit the command i see the graphics.

The next time i try the 3DO it works instantly but it shows no objects until i quit the command.

Thawing the layer that contains the external reference everything works as expected.

Hi,

One of the solutions is:

command: GRAPHICCONFIG  ---> In Effects Settings switch off Hardware Acceleration.
