Thanks for the information! If it was entirely made by AutoCAD, then I see only a single explanation for this behavior at the moment.
It occurs for a reason not entirely clear to me, that spline was created during Your process because of some bad AutoCAD interpretation of Your 2D sketch. I've been playing with it for a while, trying different combination of following: selection order , mirroring , join, boundary, explode. So far I've been able to reproduce it once or twice after like 50 tries, so there probably is something that causes the issue. I would either guess it to be duplicated entities or properties inheritance, due to selection order while joining objects, that causes them to be converted to splines as a result.
From my side i would only recommend checking the type of the entity that is created before extruding it. When I'll have time, I'll try to dig in more.
