Error: VLAX-LDATA-GET

I use a third party software, while using one of their commands I received an error: no function definition: VLAX-LDATA-GET and the command along with several others do not work. I was told this was a corrupt file from the Autocad 2017 install and I would need to reinstall Autocad, tried repair and resetting to default, neither helped the problem. Is a complete re-install my only option here? This is the second time in the last 2 months this has happened to me, no others in the office has ever experienced it. Thanks

could you provide some more specifics?

what is the third party software?

what command is being run when you get the error?

do you run other customizations beyond this 3rd party software?

does the issue happen every time you run the command or only every so often?

is there a pattern to it erroring out?

It is a add-on for fire sprinkler systems "Hydratec", have used for 20 years, their support says Autocad problem Do not know what caused it, draws normal until a lisp command is called up. Normal draw and edit commands seem to all work. Not beyond templates and tool palettes Comes up every time the command is used No pattern, happened a couple months back, they said I the only one they know of that bothered to call in whith it happening a second time.

Hi @Anonymous,

I'm sorry you are having this issue.  I would first suggest that you make sure that AutoCAD 2017 is fully patched and updated from your Account Management page.

Then I suggest creating a new user on your computer and logon with that account. Don't do any customization and see if AutoCAD runs normally.

When you remove the add-in and then do a Repair and Reset do things return to normal?

You can try a NEW windows-User, but the last way is the de- and reinstall of Acad.

It isn't easy to find the exactly problem and the event who create the problem.

Problems like that are known, few vlax* function no definition, (vl-load-com) doesn't help in these situation.

VLAX-LDATA-GET is a dictionary item that embeds information
into the file itself. IMO it has nothing to do with the software.

Do a search in the customization section using the keyword
"PDI". It stands for "Purge Dictionary Items". If the key is corrupt,
you may try to remove it and let that third-party software rebuild
itself.
