Question on creating a .STL file from two solids in AutoCAD 2009
Sorry for going back to 2009. I've retrieved my AutoCAD 2009 and want to create an .STL file with 2 solids. The response when I select the 2 solids is "Only one solid per file permitted." I'm trying to export these into a thermodynamic software to test them together.
Can anyone provide direction?
Again, my apologies for the throwback to 2009. Also, if there is another forum that I need to be on please let me know.
Thanks

Hi,
run command _UNION to create one solid from them, then again start export.
...or use the attached STL (which contains 3 solids from your drawing (there were not just 2)

Thank you. I was trying to create 2 distinct components within the .stl file, rather than have them as a single entity. Is this possible? The Union command makes them a single entity.
Thanks

Hi,
>> I was trying to create 2 distinct components
I don't have AutoCAD 2008 accessible now, so please find the STL created from your DWG with a newer version of AutoCAD.
A question could be: why not creating 2 STL-files if you need to seperated entities?

Thank you again. It is for two separate materials with different properties for a mechanical simulation. As they are distinct materials it is necessary to be able to identify each separately.
Thanks
