PDFSHXTEXT Command Missing in AutoCAD 2017 Educational Version

I just installed  AutoCAD 2017 Educational Version & wanted to utilize the new PDFSHXTEXT Command to convert imported PDF geometry into text, but the command is missing in the Insert Panel?

I checked the build # is  N 52.0.0 AutoCAD 2017. I under stand you need the AutoCAD 2017.1 update to access the command. I opened the AutoDesk Desktop App and it says "Your available updates are install".

How can I get the AutoCAD 2017.1 update?

Frustrated,

Hi @Anonymous,

This update has not yet been made available for educational licenses.

As an alternative to waiting, you might download a trial version of AutoCAD 2018 where this command has been integrated in to the core product.

John,

How will installing the 2018 trial version help me get the Missing PDFSHXTEXT Command into my AutoCAD 2017 Educational Version?

You won't get the missing command into your AutoCAD 2017, but the command is available in 2018 and you can continue to work with 2018 (as educ license).

I guess that is what @john.vellek wanted to show you as option.

hi @Anonymous,

I just discovered that Educational license holders should now have the AutoCAD 2017 updates available in their account page and in the Autodesk Desktop App. By downloading and installing the update you should then have this command available.
