Uploading drawings between AutoCAD 2007 & AutoCAD 2016

Hello,

Whilst working on drawings with my colleague we both experience difficulties with previously created drawings that we have created between the 2007 & 2016 versions.

- I use AutoCAD 2017 and he uses 2007, I save all my work as AutoCAD 2007 so my colleague does not have any difficulties opening the files.

- However, whenever we try and edit/change each others work all the drawings seem to leave a decimal place that was not there when first saved.

- For example, when I create a drawing with a 600.0000 line and save it, he will open the same drawing but it will show the line as 600.0004

Any thoughts on why it always leaves decimal places when we open drawings on alternative CAD versions?

Guessing here.

AutoCAD has been known to have errors when the elements are very far away from (0,0).

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Hi,

>> I use AutoCAD 2017 and he uses 2007

This is not a recommended environment, you are mixing functionality from a current release with a 10 releases old software.

All new objects have to be converted to "old style" and when opening then all objects have to be converted back to "new style". That is like exploding an object to small pieces (puzzles) and later check the puzzles back to a valid object. As in reality with puzzles that is work (needs performance) and sometimes fails in details.
