Lineweight ZOOM "scale"

Good Morning! I am currently using AutoCAD 2014. I have been converting MIcroStation (.dng) to AutoCad (.dwg) files and I've had the same lineweight issue with every single one of them. As I zoom in/out the actual width of the line stays the same size on the screen. This causes the object to look like a "blob" on the screen. I understand that I can turn the lineweight display off, but then I lose all lineweight variations in the drawing. I just want to be able to zoom in/out and maintain the lineweights....

Thank you,

D Wright

Those lineweights will be set in the layer dialog box.

Turning off the lineweight setting using the icon will not make the lines thin for plotting only for display purposes.

the thing is, the autocad display _is_ maintaining the lineweights... they are same thickness (in pixels) whether you are zoomed in, or zoomed out.

what it's not doing is intelligently adjusting lineweights based on zoom factor.

well, if it's a DGN conversion, then likely the lineweights are set on a by-entity level, not a by-layer.  The bentley crown has a lot more experience doing it that way....  In that world, the by-layer is an over-ride. the exact opposite of autocad's handling.

I've dealt with quite a few Microstation conversions and have found that if you go into the layer dialogue box, you will see that all their lines are different line widths. I usually just hit Ctrl-A to select all, pick any one of the lineweights, and then select default to change them all to default. That usually works for me.
