there are more than just one possibility, most likely the color type of the image, if it's

  • bitonal (that is just a black/white image) ... this is the easiest way to get the background of an image transparent in AutoCAD
  • 8bit or 24bit image, then a real white might be used to be transparent (depends also on the version of AutoCAD you have
  • 32bit image, so the image contains an alpha channel, but don't know if the scanner see's white as transparent.

 

First try to save the image as bitonal (or "blacl/white") ... if the scanner software can't do that you can use some free software like IrfanView to convert your image to black/white. If that does not work then please

  • let us know your AutoCAD version number
  • scan some linework (not your signature :cara_guiñando_un_ojo: ) and upload this image so we know what your scanner ships as data and we can give tips how to do with your raster files.
