Dimension Style Question

Hi, using reg. version 2011 here.

Was wondering if there is a way to change the dimension properties (arrow size, extension lines, etc.) then click on the new dimension and set it as the Dim Style for that drawing.

I know I can match properties each time I add a new dim, or I can format the dim style to match, but being able to "set as default" basically would be nice.

Thank you.

YES, but you need to change those settings in the DimStyle that way they show up every time you add a dimension.

Right.  That's the way I normally do it, but I figured by now they would have a way to match the properties of a dimension and "set as" dimstyle.

Seems silly to set the individual settings, then click out, update dim, "oops dim offset too small" go back in, reset offset size, click back out, try again, etc.

Would be nice to set one up "in-drawing" then make that the set style.

OH ok.

Well you can override the dimension to the desired look you want, then select the dimension right click > dimension style > Save As New Style > Select dimstyle to override.

I am currently using AutoCAD Mechanical 2017.  We have made a new dimension style specific to our company.  We set it to be current in our .dwt file but when we go to create a new drawing the dimension style reverts back to the original dimstyle.  All of our other modifications to the template file are  staying except for this.  We have to remember to change the dimstyle every time we open a drawing.

Anyone know of something we can do to make it stick?

We do not want to purge the other dimstyles...

Thank you!
