Hi, I am a beginer with AutoCAD and have been following tutorials to learn the software. I am using AutoCAD 2017 and a tutorial says you can hold shift to allow you to rotate the object, but when I try it doesnt work. In the video, he seems to press some buttons or something such that while he does it he is able to drag the screen or rotate the object, and when he lets go he is able to resume line drawing. I have not been able to figure this out, I have to switch from the line drawing tool to the orbit tool, and then back to then line tool. This is inconvenient especially if I am drawing a polyline around an object, since I need to rotate it to finished the polyline nd if I switch to the orbit tool it will no longer be one full polyline and then I while have to join them.
It can be seen in this video at 4:50

In short, what are the hotkeys to orbit/pan/manipulate the object? Why does the tutorial say shift although it doesn't work, is this from a previous version of AutoCAD?
Thanks in advance!
