Im having a problem setting up templates in autocad 2014.
I have set the options > Files > Template Settings > Drawing template file location to the correct folder. Despite this, when i use the new command, it gives me my most recent work folder. It gives me the exact same dialog as when i use the open command.
On autocad 2016, i dont have this problem, and on some of the other work computers we dont have this problem. Is there another setting that effects where autocad looks for templates?

Did you set the Default Template File Name for QNEW as well?

I did not, we have multiple different borders that we use, with different templates. I want it so that when i type new, it opens up the folder with the templates, and then you can select the appropriate one. This is how it works in autocad 2016, and this is how it works on some of our 2014 installs.

OPTIONS command's FILES tab, go to TEMPALTE SETTINGS, expand it to file DEFAULT TEMPLATE FILE NAME FOE QNEW, expand it and compare that settings in the two different R2014 seats.
Look up QNEW in HELP in R2014 only (not R2016) for an expanded explanation and other tips if any.

Thank you for the response Dean,
I have sat down at both of the computers to compare the settings, and the template settings under the file tab under options is identical on both computers.
Do you know of any other settings or parameters that will affect which template folder opens when creating a new file?

On the pop-up for NEW and QNEW, do you have FILES OF TYPE set to DRAWING TEMPLATE (*.DWT)? It is required, otherwise your last DWG or DWS selection folder is the default.

This sounds really promising, as i did realize when i was on the 2014 computers that they did have .dwg as the default when creating new files. How the default in the new file dialog changed? When i tried just changing it manually, then closing the new drawing window, if i open it again it defaults to .dwg again.

Hi,
>> when i use the new command, it gives me my most recent work folder
Start command _NEW ... then verify that your default extension is *.DWT
I guess yours is set to *.DWG and that can be the difference.

Hi @Anonymous,
If you have checked the QNEW setting and it matches, then verify that when you start a new drawing is shows DWT for a file extension. If it doesn't, then manually change it to DWT and open the file.
