It's a hard job for AutoCAD to have the dimensions in paperspace following objects in modelspace, it would be critical to the points of geometry that are then outside the viewport area ... or, unsolvable, if you change the viewpoint to another 3D-view/perspective. So think about dimensions in modelspace, it's just layer thaw/freeze you need in modelspace if you don't want to see dimensions in modelspace.
However if you use command _PAN or command _ZOOM instead of the middle mouse button/mouse wheel the dimensions in paperspace will follow geometry in modelspace (as long as possible and as long as set to be associative).
