AutoCAD 2017 Student Version freezes upon opening

I cannot begin a drawing. The software freezes on the first page that has only the Start tab and three headings: Get Started, Recent Documents and Connect. The only way to close the program is through Task Manager or right clicking on it's icon on my task bar. I believe my computer has all the requirements: Processor speed 2.40 GHz, 12.0 GB RAM, 64-bit operating system, Windows 10. Any suggestions? I am not very computer literate so I would need a clear solution explained in layman's terms, but I have worked with AutoCAD since the 1980s so I am familiar with the software. I just switched from AutoCAD 2010 and I need to learn AutoCAD 2017 as I will be teaching it.

Hi,

welcome @Anonymous.autodesk.com!

>> The software freezes on the first page that has only the Start tab

Do you have a UHD display (resolution > 1920x1020)? If so try to reduce the resolution for your display and try AutoCAD to start again.

There is also an option to start AutoCAD without hardware acceleration as described >>>here<<<

Another trial could be to disconnect from network and internet, restart your computer and try AutoCAD again.

Which graphic-card?

Nvidia. I checked that also. I updated some items today, still attempting to get it running, and I forget what I updated, but I finally got the program running. It isn't as different as I thought it would be after exploring and using it. Thank you very much for your reply.

Hi,

>> but I finally got the program running

Great, mark your post as solution so others know that you got it working.

Would be great for other readers if you have ideas what you did, so they can test the same steps if they have the same issue.

(and hopefully you don't need it again :cara_guiñando_un_ojo: )
