Am I in the wrong workspace? I can no longer draw 2D!

I have a schematic block diagram DWG I have been working on.  It is simple 2D: rectangles, lines, text, hatches, and blocks.  I work in the the Drawing and Annotation workspace and everything has been fine.  Well, I messed up - I think.  I was curious and fooling around with the 3D Basics workspace in this same block diagram DWG.  Drew a cylinder and box, not much else.  I then deleted the 3D objects and went back to the Drawing and Annotation workspace.  Now my subject line is a little misleading, YES, I can draw 2D.  And even though I am in the Drawing and Annotation workspace, my selection grips are now UCS looking compasses, my zooming acts odd until I change my perspective, and my wipeouts are no longer working.  I am completely baffled as how to get my drawing back to a plain 2D environment.

Someone please tell me what the heck is going on and how to fix it.  Thanks, B.
