Hardware Acceleration

I am a high school drafting teacher and we have just installed AutoCAD 2017 onto our student computers.  The program has a cursor tail which is very annoying.  I know that enabling hardware acceleration will fix this problem but when I try to do it the program will not allow me to make any changes.

After logging in under an administrative account I was able to make the change, but the change does not stay once the admin acct logs out and a student logs in.

Any suggestions on how to maybe bypass the Hardware Acceleration or what allowance we need in the student accounts to allow them to enable the acceleration.

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the community!

Sorry to hear about the issue. It seems this may be a setting, which your schools network administrator disabled when they imaged/deployed the software. You are definitely correct about it being a side affect of not having the hardware acceleration enabled. Have you tried the second solution in this knowledge base article, which entails going into the systems performance options?

I'm guessing, it's probably not an option to give students admin rights on the machines. I would say the network administrator would have to make this change and push it in an update to the deployment.

Hi @Anonymous!

Igather from your post that you have access to an administrator account.. So you may try one of the following:

1- Right click the AutoCAD icon, select "Run As Administrator", and enter the password, Enable 3D Acceleration, close..

If that didn't work:

2- Enter from your administrator account and make the student account administrator temporarily, log off and log on to the student account, change the settings you want, log off again and log on as Admin, change the student account back to a none admin account...

Regards..
