Sudden Crippling Lag

As I was working on a project today AutoCAD suddenly froze.  After about 30 seconds it started working again and I was prompted that my cloud settings have synced.  Besides the fact that it just wiped out my settings and replaced them with the default settings, AutoCAD now runs HORRIBLY slowly.  I can no longer complete the project because even highlighting a few lines takes about a minute for the computer to complete. I want to rip my hair out!! This software is my livelihood!!!!

Before this sync occurred, I have had very little problems with lag/performance.  I have tried disabling/enabling hardware acceleration and switching color schemes to Windows 7 Basic with no improvements.

The file I am working with is 19,793 KB with no XREFs or tables.  It is lines and polylines only.

My computer specs are:

Windows 7 SP1 64bit

Intel Core i5-2300 CPU @ 2.80 GHz 2.80 GHz

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960

8gb RAM (not sure of other specs)
