Annotative objects and styles are a feature in AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT that allows automatic scaling of certain objects based upon the scale desired on the paper or view.
Annotative means you don’t have to draw things repeatedly if you display something more than once at a different scale.
For instance, you might have a door tag block that is set to annotative. If you set the block to display at 1/8”=1’0” and ¼”=1’-0” scales then you can have it display on a floor plan and your enlarged floor plan, at the correct size without having to have two layers with duplicated information.
What can be annotative?
- Text (both single-line and multiline)
- Text Styles
- Blocks and attribute definitions
- Hatches
- Dimensions and Dimension Styles
- Multileaders and multileader styles
- Geometric Tolerances
