Can't get rid of unwanted and invisible geometry at origin in block

Hi there,

I've got an issue with some dwg files we're working with, where there is a block somewhere in the file that has some hidden geometry in it near the origin, while the model itself is at the project's coordinate location. - This gives me issues when I'm heading to revit, getting the shared coordinates to line up (it defaults back to centre to centre)

I know its in a block as when I explode all the blocks it becomes visible and I can delete it - however, I'm left with a file with all the blocks exploded.

Is there anyway to exclude anything that isn't visible from all blocks, or alternatively 'unmask' the bits that are hidden so I don't have to explode everything?

Thanks a lot!

You could try to select all, then unselect the objects you dont want to delete, then delete.

Control + A, then Shift <and the objects you dont want to>, then delete.

Hi @KentBurns

Would you be able to share a sample of your drawing with us?

I'm thinking you have a good amount of blocks within this file. It'll be nice to see if I can take a look at it on my end.

Also have you tried to redefine the block/blocks that are having this issue? If so does it help?

I'm guessing you have multiple co-workers working on the same file and probably in different AutoCAD/Revit releases. Could you provide more info on that as well?

Perhaps the overly obvious question, but I'll ask it anyway:  Are all Layers thawed and turned on?  If not, do that [you may have to REGEN to get everything to appear].  Whether or not any Layers were frozen or off, run UNHIDE or UNISOLATE [both Aliases for UNISOLATEOBJECTS] in case the Block(s) in question had been hidden as objects rather than by way of Layers, and then you should be able to determine which Block is the offender by picking on any formerly-hidden unwanted bit(s).  Then edit just that Block definition, or Explode just that Block if you prefer.  LAYERP should then take you back to whatever conditions were before, or alternatively, Save a Layer stAte before thawing/turning-on everything, and Restore that after editing the Block.

I would be reluctant to just "exclude anything that isn't visible from all blocks" in a wholesale way [though that would be possible] -- you might get rid of some thing(s) you don't really want to, and not realize it at the time, but could discover it only after it's too late [e.g. after closing and re-opening the drawing, when you can no longer Undo what you did].

Good response. Just one thing to add. Make sure to save a copy of the file, in case things go awry.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.
