Hi Richard,
Welcome to the Commnuity Forums!
I am sorry that you are having problems with MTEXT. Can you please tell me if you are working in modelspace or in paperspace when this happens? Are you working through a viewport or are you working directly on the model?
I look forward to helping you with the problem.

with MTEXT command, then edit, the text editor stays with its original
alignment. If I open a drawing from my co-worker, then edit his text in the
MTEXT EDITOR, the selected text rotates to its original cardinal direction;
east, west north, etc., then rotates back to normal alignment. There must
be a setting as this has been the case from version 2010 to present 2016.
If I match properties from mtext I have created to his text, then the text
stays aligned (horizontal) to its original direction. The same is true in
the Properties manager. If I am in PLAN and select the alignment to east it
rotates to screen east, but his text rotates to world east. Thanks, this
problem has troubled me for over a year now. Even after upgrading to new
software AUTOCAD CIVIL 3D 2016 and Carlson 2016

Hi richard,
I haven't seen this issue before. Let me do a little digging. In the mean time, can you send me a drawing file or two that displays this behavior?

MTEXTFIXED may help though im not sure if this is your problem. I have read that using certain fonts can have this behavior. If you are using a font that has other alternatives like 'Sans' or 'unicode sand MS' try switching those around and see if it makes a difference.
